The city of Bucheon created the Bucheon Diaspora Literary Award(BUDILIA) to honor diasporic fiction and highlight the role of diaspora for collective memory, intercultural dialogue and deeper understanding in the life of human beings.
With the attempt to break new ground in the international literary prize with diaspora theme, Bucheon is planning to host the first edition of the BUDILIA Ceremony in the 2021 Autumn.
The steering committee comprised of 9 members has been put in place on 11th June, 2020. The committee will serve as a core body to supervise and administer the award, establishing systems and practices so that the award to be delivered with integrity and excellence.
In the months to come, the nomination committee will also be set up, whose main role is to recommend titles for consideration and narrow down entries for the selection committee to read and make deliberations on the best work of fiction. As soon as the nomination process begins, Bucheon city will ask UNESCO Cities of Literature to nominate titles.
